A team of students that competed in an international environmental competition is back in Decorah. Lora Friest is the co-coach of the five-member Envirothon team that finished 21st at the competition in Nova Scotia.Friest says it’s the first time an Iowa team has placed so well in the event. The students competed at the regional and then state level before winning the right to advance to the national competition. She says the national competition was intense.Friest says the Decorah students were well prepared after years of studying environmental issues.There were 41 teams that competed in the national Envirothon event.
