The final numbers are in from the state’s effort to snuff out teen smoking at the Iowa State Fair. Officials say 128 youth were cited for tobacco possession during the 11-day event and one retailer was charged with selling to minors. There were other tobacco-related charges filed, too against ten people over the age of 18 who provided tobacco to minors.Lynn Walding is administrator of the state Alcoholic Beverages Division, which is gearing up a tobacco enforcement program. Two state troopers scoured the state fair, searching for teen smokers. While the fair drew more than 900-thousand people, Walding says having 128 citations is good. Each of the youngsters charged with smoking at the fair faces a 50-dollar fine and up to eight hours of community service. Walding was surprised to learn about the youngest smokers cited at the fair. Four of them were 13-year-olds.
