Some Iowans will be able to get hunting and fishing licenses in the same old places in a slick new way starting today.Ross Harrison, spokesman for the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, says four locations in Dallas and Polk counties have opened electronic licensing machines today. They enable a would-be hunter or angler to swipe his or her Iowa driver’s license through the machine’s slot to automatically provide all of the needed information — no more forms.Harrison says the machines are being tested in the four locations now so any problems can be fixed before hundreds of the A-T-M-type devices are set up across Iowa. The Iowa D-N-R plans to be using about 900 of the machines statewide by fall to provide licenses efficiently to 500-thousand Iowans. The only downside for people wanting hunting or fishing licenses is that the speedy process will cost them an extra 50-cents per license.
