Soil and Water Conservation District commissioners from all over Iowa are floating down the Middle Raccoon River in canoes this afternoon. The 34 commissioners put in near Panora in Guthrie County. Organizers of the trip say there is much for the commissioners to see.Roger Wolf is director of the Raccoon River Watershed Project and directs environmental programs for the Iowa Soybean Association. He says the commissioners are in the forefront of protecting our precious resources.Wolf says the commissioners are learning some of the rich cultural history of the Raccoon River and what cultural challenges it faces in the years ahead.The commissioners are meeting in West Des Moines this week for their 54th annual state conference.
