They were the dominant class 4-A programs during the 90s and they matchup tonight as top ranked Iowa City High visits ninth-rated Iowa City West. City High coach Larry Brown says while it is a big game, the players really don’t understand how closely watched this matchup is around the state. He says they’ve played each other since junior high, so it’s not as big a game to them.Reese Morgan is gone but Brown says new coach Dan Dvorak has West High playing a similar offense.Dvorak says the competition between the schools has helped both get better.He says they try to treat it like just another game.In class A, second ranked Manning visits number nine West Harrison in a key district ten matchup. Manning coach Floyd Forman says they are happy with their 4-0 start.Forman says the West Harrison defense will bring pressure.In eight-man football tonight, top ranked Elk Horn-Kimballton hosts third-ranked Adair-Casey. Elk Horn Kimballton coach Chris Stimson says these two schools have a good rivalry. Throw in the Dane’s 22 game winning streak and you have an emotional setting.Stimson says this game will go a long way toward determining the district two title.
