Iowa Conference softball coaches still expect the league to receive multiple berths in the upcoming N-C-A-A division three regional. Heading into the stretch, Central leads the League at 16-2. Wartburg is 14-2 and William Penn is also in the hunt at 11-3. Central coach George Wares says they had five at-large bids last year. He says there are fewer bids this year, so he’d be surprised to see more than two teams get in. The Dutch face a key doubleheader at Simpson today, and Wares says the rivalry between the schools is evident in softball as well. Wartburg coach Randy Schneider hopes his team can get into the N-C-A-A regionals without winning the conference title. Schneider says, at this point, his team should focus on winning the automatic bid, as that leaves the decision up to them. Wartburg visits William Penn this afternoon.
