Iowa is part of a national settlement that could return at least one million dollars to people who bought two types of drugs. Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller says the multi-state case alleged Pennsylvania drug maker Mylan Labs conspired to raise the cost of Clorazepate and Lorazepam — two drugs used to treat symptoms of anxiety in nursing homes and in people with Alzheimer’s disease. Clorazepate increased from two cents to 75 cents per pill. Lorazepam went from two cents to 37 cents a pill. Miller says some Iowans who bought the drug in 1998 and ’99 can file for a portion of the settlement money.He says claims could range from hundreds of dollars to two thousand dollars, depending on how much of the drug was used. Miller says it’s important that people apply for the money, as you must apply to get the money back.The filing period for claims is June 1st through September 29th. Miller says your pharmacist should be able to provide you information on your purchases of the drugs.
