Democrat Iowa Senator Tom Harkin says he disagrees with part of the message in a T-V ad paid for by the Democratic National Committee which attacks President Bush. The commercial infers beef products may be unsafe to eat due to an effort to relax restrictions which may allow a salmonella outbreak. We don’t want to denigrate the wholesomeness of beef. We have a great product. We haven’t had a salmonella outbreak in meat in a long time. Harkin says the D-N-C ad is “just not right.” Harkin says they have to go the extra mile to assure the public that their products are wholesome. The ad slams the Bush Administration on its first 100 days.
