Basketball teams that want to take part in the Iowa Games this summer face an entry deadline on June first. Iowa Games executive director Jim Hallihan says teams will need to qualify through regional competition. He says they added a regional in Davenport and removed soccer from the regionals.Hallihan says basketball competition begins in grade school with 5th grade.Hallihan admits the Iowa Games faces competition for entries with team camps and A-A-U competition throughout the summer. He says you can compete in the regionals and advance to the finals without having to pay another fee.Hallihan says a number of high school teams take part. He says there were over 22 high school teams last year.
