The Cal-Dows School District in northern Iowa is one of six “Schools of the Year” and its elementary program is the nation’s second best according to a “Time” magazine poll. Superintendent James Jess says a Time reporter spent two days in April with students, teachers and others in the community.Jess says getting the recognition from the national publication proves rural schools are still great places to learn.The schools of the year appear in the Time edition which hit newsstands today.
