The girl’s state high school track meet is underway in Drake Stadium. One of the finals contested this afternoon was the distance medley and Aplington-Parkersburg was a second straight 1A title. Jill Schwiebert who was part of the squad that won last year, says it was “awesome” to win again. Schwiebert says it was a lot harder to win a second time.Iowa City High won the 3A distance medley and set a state record with a time of four minutes three-point five-six seconds. Freshman Nellie Trefz ran the 800 anchor leg and says she had no clue about the record. She says all the legs of the race performed well. Trefz says they were excited to win and set a record.
