Congressman Greg Ganske of Des Moines says Congress may enact national standards for the chemical make-up of gasoline. Ganske says gasoline refineries now make about 50 different kinds of gasoline to meet various regulations for certain states, and certain cities. That means gas made in Des Moines can’t be shipped to St. Louis because the chemical formula doesn’t meet the standards for the St. Louis market. Ganske says Congress should try to establish just a few gasoline formulas to make shipping gas into shortage areas easier. Ganske made his comments on Iowa Public Television’s “Iowa Press.”.
