Morningside athletic director Jerry Schmutte is searching for his replacement, again. Schmutte resigned as the Mustangs’ men’s basketball coach at the end of last season to become A-D. This week, Troy Larson resigned as the head coach to become an assistant at South Dakota State.Schmutte says a search for a new coach is underway, he says the mission is to get a new coach on board as quickly as possible..Larson was a starting point guard at Morningside and leaves without having coached a game. He says it was too good an opportunity to pass up a job at a state school.Morningside is in the midst of a move from division-two to the N-A-I-A level.
