Morningside College senior A.G. Kruger will bid for a national championship in the hammer throw later this week at the N-C-A-A division two track and field championships in Edwardsville, Illinois. The native of Sheldon finished fourth at the national meet a year ago and has the nations best throw this season at 215-feet five-inches, despite never having seen the event until college. He says he didn’t believe it was actually an event when he first saw it.Kruger went to Morningside to play football and has shown dramatic improvement in the last year. So much so that he plans to continue to train after his collegiate career is completed. Kruger says he hopes to reach his potential by training year-round. He says he’s already talked with some people about a training program.Kruger is also a contender in the discus competition at the national meet which begins tomorrow.
