Attorney General Tom Miller last night announced a settlement reached in a multi-state suit against makers of disposable contact lenses. Six weeks after more than 30 states took on a pair of big contact-lens makers, they announced a settlement of the anti-trust suit. Miller says the rebate will be in the form of coupons that cut the cost of buying more disposable contacts. Consumers won’t need proof of purchase to get the coupons if they’re still buying the brands in question, though if they’re former customers they’ll have to go back to using them, if they want to use the coupons. Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller says Iowa began two decades ago to team with other states in consumer-protection cases, because it gives more clout.Miller says doing that collectively, the states could do more for constituents than they could alone, and this case is an example.
