A circus that claims to be the last of the authentic big tops is making its way across the Hawkeye State. Last night’s performance by the Carson and Barnes Circus was in Webster City. The traveling circus first went on the road sixty years ago. Ringmaster Jim Royal has spent 35 years in the circus life. He says they’re on the road 34 weeks starting in early March, and they don’t take a single day off.The circus has already made stops in Clarinda, Creston, Perry and Webster City. It’s headed next to Parkersburg today, then on to Waterloo, Maquoketa and Dewitt.
