A groundbreaking is set for next month in Cedar Rapids for a new baseball stadium for the Cedar Rapids Kernels. The team currently plays in Veterans Memorial Stadium that is 52-years-old and Kernels General Manager Jack Roeder says while the stadium has served them well, a new state of the art facility is needed to secure the future.The new stadium will seat 53-hundred fans and Roeder says the quality of the seats will be vastly improved.Roeder says the new stadium will also be attractive to major league affiliates by giving the players top-notch facilities.
