State officials are warning businesses that hire teens this summer to be up-to-date on the rules covering their employment. Marcielle Rockhill of Iowa Workforce Development says employers are required to keep an Iowa Child Labor Form on hand. They also recommend that employers get a certificate of age from any teen they employ. Rockhill says there are several restrictions on work hours for those who haven’t yet celebrated “Sweet Sixteen.” They can only work between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. seven days a week. June first through Labor Day, they can work until 9 p.m.Rockhill says the rules don’t apply for kids who work for their parents. For more information you can call the Iowa Labor Division at 515-281-8493.
