Iowa’s lone contestant in the national spelling bee has made it through the first round. Rockford eighth grader Sarah Mosier was among the 175 contestants still in the running this morning when the Scripps-Howard National Spelling Bee resumed in Washington D-C. She correctly spelled “melee” yesterday.
