With the sports season over, a new era is set to begin at William Penn University. The school is leaving the N-C-A-A division-three Iowa Conference and moving to the N-A-I-A. Jim Cox is Penn’s football coach and says the change represents a new challenge.The move to N-A-I-A means Penn can now offer athletic scholarships. Cox says it will widen the field of athletes they can now recruit. He says they can now recruit “middle class” kids who don’t qualify for financial aid.Penn’s football program struggled for years in the Iowa Conference but Cox feels the change will help the program find success.Cox says Penn will field nearly an entire new football team this Fall. He says it will be an interesting challenge.Penn’s new football program will debut on September first against Midland Lutheran.
