The leaders of an eastern Iowa town are putting up big dollars to restore the green grass on the riverfront. The Mississippi River is back in its banks but it left behind a muddy mess. The Davenport city council voted Monday to spend 80-thousand dollars to re-sod LeClaire Park, which was the planned location for a blues festival next month, but it won’t be ready in time. Jeff Farlum, head of Davenport’s Parks Department, says the current situation is a muddy one and the only way to get the grass back is to put in sod. It’s hoped the new grass -will- be in place before the Bix Biederbecke jazz fest later in July.
