A controversial proposal before voters today would raise millions of dollars in property taxes for a new school in northern Iowa. Voters in the West Hancock School district go to the polls today to consider a nine million-dollar bond issue for a new elementary school in Britt as well as renovations to other school buildings in Britt and Kanawha. The new elementary building would have the same features as one built in Britt back in 1919, including a swimming pool, an auditorium, gymnasium and air conditioning. Sixty percent of voters must approve the bond issue for it to pass.
