Iowa’s Department of Natural Resources has posted warnings on several Iowa beaches discouraging people from swimming in those lakes this weekend. The DNR has posted warnings on eleven lakes across the state, urging people to use caution while swimming. Liz Shinall from the DNR says they test beaches across the state weekly and post signs when levels are high.Lake Darling, Beed’s Lake, Springbrook, Bobwhite State Park, Backbone, Emerson Bay, Geode, Lake of Three Fires, Lewis and Clark, Nine Eagles and Red Haw will all have warnings posted this weekend. Swimmers can check the DNR’s website for updates on the bacteria levels of the beaches near them.
