Des Moines police are investigation the case of the klutzy karate kick. Police say when a man turned up bleeding early Sunday morning, they first thought he may have been shot. But the 41-year-old Des Moines man was bleeding, not from a bullet, but deep cuts to his foot and leg. Police information officer Sergeant Bruce Elrod says the man was arguing with another about an apparent drug deal at an oriental market on the capital city’s near east side, and when the other man allegedly pointed a gun, the victim tried a karate kick to defend himself. He wasn’t shot, but he kicked a big fish tank and the broken glass left him bleeding. He was treated at a local hospital, and nobody was arrested.
