Two southeast Iowa men were badly hurt over the weekend when their mule-drawn wagon was rear-ended by a semi-truck. A Mount Pleasant-area man and his nephew were badly hurt when their replica 1880s medicine wagon was hit by a truck Saturday near Bloomfield. 48-year-old Rev. Steve Prickett, of rural Salem, had hoped to drive the mule team all the way to Kansas, but the wagon’s demolished and one mule was killed. Prickett’s 26-year-old nephew, Rob, of Burlington, suffered two broken legs, as did Prickett. They were being treated at University Hospitals in Iowa City. The truck driver says he didn’t see the eight-foot high red wagon which did have a slow-vehicle sign. He was not charged.
