An eastern Iowa native is up for a top trade position in the Bush Administration. Allen Johnson, originally from the Scott County town of Long Grove, is nominated to serve as U-S Chief Agricultural Negotiator in the office of the U-S Trade Representative. Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley says he’ll be backing Johnson for the post. Grassley says he helped create the position to make sure that agriculture got proper representation in negotiations.The Senate Finance Committee, on which Grassley serves, will hold hearings on Johnson and four other nominees for various posts on Thursday.
