John Deere Classic hopes to secure more big names

Officials hope the list of notable golfers will grow for next month’s P-G-A John Deere Classic near the Quad Cities. Bob Tway and Fred Funk has been the most well known latest additions but tournament director Kym Hougham says with the U-S Open complete the list should grow.Hougham says many of the top players will now decide what tournaments they want to play down the line.The Deere Classic comes a week after the British Open and Hougham says that hurts their effort to attract big names.Another important date for putting the field together will come in early July with the Western Open near Chicago. That tournament will serve as a qualifier for the British Open.The John Deere Classic is July 26th through the 29th.
