Two young women were seriously injured this morning in Story City when their car was struck by a train. Captain Gary Foster of the Story County Sheriff’s department says it happened at a railroad crossing that has a stop sign, but no crossing arms that stop traffic.Foster says the accident happened about 10 o’clock this morning. The driver apparently didn’t see the Union Pacific freight train coming down the tracks. The car was struck broadside on the passenger side of the car and pushed it about half a mile down the tracks before the train could stop. The jaws of life had to be used to get the passenger out.
