As it nears its first birthday, The Harvester golf course near the central Iowa town of Mingo has seen its tee sheets filled. The course opened on September first and has been ranked by Golf Magazine as one of the ten best new courses in the country. General Manager John Jordan says the national recognition has been a plus for the course. He says it opens the course up to markets that normally wouldn’t play the course, including people from Chicago and around the world.Jordan says like every new course The Harvester will need time to mature but having built the course in an area heavily wooded gives it a head start.Jordan says the course experienced rain during 22 of the 31-days in May but has received good reviews from the players. He says it’s a fair but challenging course for people of all skill levels.Jordan says The Harvester takes reservations a month in advance.
