Algona teacher faces charges

An Algona middle school teacher is charged with four counts of disseminating obscene material to minors.Police say Michael George Kirby was arrested Thursday. They say Kirby used the Internet to send pornographic pictures to several minors living in the Algona and Whittmore areas during May. Police say the 14-year olds were students in Kirby’s class this past school year, but the Superintendent says none of the activity occurred at school. Kirby has been a math teacher at the school since 1983.
