A volunteer ambulance service in eastern Iowa has gone out of business after more than 37 years of saving lives.LeClaire Ambulance closed on Saturday. It had covered a 100-square-mile area of Scott County. The service had ongoing staffing problems and was suspended by the state in December of 2000. Another paid ambulance service run by Davenport hospitals has been covering the territory since the suspension and will continue to do so.
