As more and more high school basketball teams seek out summer competition, additional team camps are popping up throughout the state. The latest is at William Penn University which will hold its first annual boys high school shootout on August fourth and fifth. Penn assistant coach John Henry says you can play as many as 50 games in the summer and that makes players better.Henry says summer competition is one of the reasons that high school basketball has improved so much in the state. He says basketball has become a year-round sport. Henry says the improvement is evident by the number of kids signing with division one schools.Henry says the camp at Penn will mostly draw teams from the area and they will feature schools of different size.Henry says the team camps help give high school teams competition but also serve as a chance for the school to watch players they may eventually recruit.
