The Coon Rapids/Bayard School District is taking the steps to become two separate school districts. The board has appointed a seven-member dissolution team to look into options to split the district. The two districts merged 13 years ago due to declining enrollment and rising expenses. Leaders are now also weighing the closure of Bayard schools, while the Coon Rapids facilities would remain open. Bayard residents want to maintain their buildings, including one school that’s been in operation since 1910.
