The methamphetamine training center in Sioux City has won federal funding for a third year. Lieutenant Mel Williams of the Sioux City police department is the center’s director. The federal government gave them two-point-two million dollars in funding last year and Williams says they expect to get about the same amount of funding this year. He says they train officers in a roughly 150-mile radius.He says police departments only have to pay for the officer’s transportation to the training center.Williams says they’ve offered 120 classes to over five thousand offices in the first two years of operation.
