Overheated cord blamed for fire death

Investigators believe an overheated extension cord near an entertainment center sparked the fire in Atlantic that killed a one-year-old. A 14-month-old boy was killed; his mother and five-year-old sister escaped the blaze, which broke out early Thursday morning. All 16 units in the subsidized housing complex were evacuated. Nine apartments were damaged. Volunteers helped move residents to temporary housing.
