Authorities have identified a man whose body was found Monday by a D-O-T crew along a highway in central Iowa. Story County Sheriff Paul Fitzgerald says right from the start the body carried clues, including a relative’s name that helped them identify the man left by Interstate 35. The sheriff needs help from anyone and everyone, and is asking for tips. All he knows now is that a month short of his 23rd birthday, the man was shot in the head, probably somewhere else, and dumped alongside the road. Juan Emilio Baires of Des Moines was killed by a gunshot wound. Workers mowing a ditch north of Ames reported the grisly discovery about four p.m. Monday.
