The Department of Natural Resources is forecasting unhealthy levels of smog today for two eastern Iowa counties. Residents of Clinton and Scott counties are being warned that breathing the air outside might be harmful. Brian Button, an air quality specialist with the Department of Natural Resources, says people in those counties should wait until tomorrow to mow their lawn or paint the garage. He says fumes from doing these kinds of things react to create high levels of smog. Those planning to jog or run today, or do outdoor labor are at risk of breathing the unhealthy air. Smog is most dangerous to the very young, the very old and those who have respiratory ailments.
