The city of Center Point is asking residents to keep voluntarily conserving water, as hot dry weather continues. The city was missed by recent heavy storms, and hasn’t has much rain in weeks. Officials are asking residents to cut back by watering lawns only on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m., doing only full loads of laundry, and not washing cars. Officials hope that will let pumps recharge the water tower and ground storage tanks. The city’s installing a chlorine-injection system to more carefully measure the amount of chemicals put into drinking water.
