Iowans who would rather be in some other state for a vacation this fall should contact a travel agent. Several major airlines have started a price war that’s bringing down fares significantly for flights to warmer climates, which will be welcome in a few months.Debra Lange is a senior travel consultant for Triple-A Travel. She says popular fall destinations for Iowans usually include Florida, California, Texas and Arizona. Lange says this latest “airfare war” is a welcome change of pace.Lange says some fares out of Des Moines to L-A are under 300-dollars round-trip, but she says those discounted seats will only be available for a few more days. Most of the cheaper fares are for travel between now and late October.
