A man’s been arrested in Waterloo and charged with attacking three women at the University of Iowa Hospitals Sunday night. Chuck Green, the University’s Public Safety, says they arrested Johnny Lee Jones last night at seven o’clock. Jones, who has no known address, was charged with assault with intent to commit sexual abuse, false imprisonment, and two counts of simple assault. Green says they got a tip that a man matching the description of the suspect was seen in Iowa City and had traveled to Waterloo via bus.Green says when officers collared Jones in Waterloo, he confessed. Green says they aren’t releasing the name of the person who gave them the tip.Green says there are no plans to change security at the Hospitals and Clinics. He says University settings are very open, which he says is necessary to get their work done. He says they do remind people to take precautions.Green spoke to the media at a news conference this morning in Iowa City. Two of the assaults took place inside the hospital. The third attack was outside, near a hospital parking ramp. None of the three women were seriously hurt and were able to fight off their attacker and run to safety.Jones is now in jail in Iowa City.
