A sharp Des Moines detective got his man quickly after a Tuesday holdup. Detective Jeff Shannon was interviewing witnesses after a credit-union holdup when the description began to sound familiar. He realized he was hearing them identify a man he’d written a warrant for, in a July seventh bowling-alley holdup. Shannon went looking for his suspect, spotted him on Des Moines’ east side, and arrested the man. As he did, he says cash fell from the suspect’s pocket, including some marked bills taken in the credit-union robbery. 27-year-old Nick Holt was taken to a hospital after arresting officers say he got violently ill. Taken to Mercy Hospital, he was also placed under arrest for two counts of first-degree robbery.
