Experts who toured Midwest fields this past week found dire conditions in southeast and western Iowa. “ProFarmer” tour leader Scott Davis says farmers in southeast Iowa have real problems in their fields. Chip Flory, a “ProFarmer” analyst, says west central Iowa was very hot and dry in July and early August. Flory says the weather really damaged the corn crop in west central Iowa.Davis led experts on a tour of fields from Indiana on west, and he says the big problems they saw were in Iowa and Minnesota.The ProFarmer experts predict Iowa’s corn fields to yield just over 131 bushels per acre this fall.
