Volunteers and relief workers from northwest Iowa spent the weekend helping residents across the border in Nebraska recover from a tornado. The tornado that hit the small town of Jackson, Nebraska, Friday night. The storm destroyed ten homes and injured several residents. Jackson Mayor Brian O’Neil says volunteers got a lot done.There were about 300 volunteers and they’ve pretty well cleaned up most of the homes that were destroyed. He says there was a lot of work to do.O’Neil says they hope to get some state help to rebuild.Jackson’s public school was damaged, and O’Neil isn’t sure if the building can be repaired. He says school’s been pushed back a week and they’ll hold classes in another building. Jackson is about 10 miles west of Sioux City.
