Could the next blockbuster be “Godzilla Eats Iowa” or maybe “Men from Mars Level Littleport”?Three-quarters of the buildings in Littleport were destroyed by flooding two years ago and the remainder of the northeast Iowa town needs to be bulldozed. Wendol Jarvis, head of the Iowa Film Office, says it’d be the ideal setting for a movie’s disastrous climax.A few years ago, many scenes from the tornado chaser film “Twister” were shot in Iowa. Jarvis says Hollywood has been good to the Hawkeye State in the past, and he hopes producers might consider returning for this opportunity. Littleport could be blown up, burned up, flattened by dinosaurs, or whatever the movie people dream up. Jarvis says it would depend on what the filmmaker needs. The remaining residents of Littleport have moved to higher ground. The old section of the town is what would be demolished.
