More details are surfacing in the Sunday shootout that killed an intruder who broke into a home in rural Melrose in southeast Iowa. Authorities say 33-year-old Robert Frye of Albia broke a window at the home of Randy Carr and went inside. Frye’s ex-girlfriend was there. Frye fired into the bedroom, hitting Carr. Carr returned fire and hit Frye, who was found dead outside beside his pickup, which was still running. Monroe County authorities say Carr was justified in using the gun in self-defense and NO charges will be filed. Carr is in good condition at a Des Moines hospital.
