Scott County residents held a successful petition drive calling for a referendum over the proposed River Renaissance project in Davenport. They collected more than 11-thousand signatures, that’s four thousand more signatures than are required. County supervisors decided Thursday to set a date for the vote. The referendum is over five-million dollars in local money. Twenty million dollars in Vision Iowa funds for the project hinge upon the project being finalized by November, but state election laws prevent the referendum from being on the ballot that soon. It could be December before the vote, which would put the state money in jeopardy.
