Iowa Congressman Leonard Boswell says Mexican President Vincente Fox may be moving too quickly in calling for legal status for undocumented Mexicans working in the U-S.Boswell says the issue needs “just consideration” but he’s not sure Fox should’ve set the end-of-the-year deadline. Boswell, a democrat, says he’ll wait to see what republicans do with the issue. On another issue, Boswell says he has mixed feelings on the President’s call for more military spending. Boswell says there needs to be adequate pay for military personnel as it makes him want to “chuck up” when he sees service men and women have to apply for food stamps. Boswell though, says he doesn’t agree with some of the more expensive plans in the President’s military budget. He’s not sure there is a need for the “Star Wars” missile project and the costly impact it might have on the U-S budget. Boswell’s a Vietnam vet and says a strong military is important.
