The state is investigating complaints about some Iowa gas stations raising prices sky high after yesterday’s terrorist attacks. None of the predatory pricing has been confirmed, according to Bill Brauch, director of the Consumer Protection Division of the Iowa Attorney General’s office. He says he’s “extremely concerned” retailers may have taken advantage of this situation.Brauch says phone calls are coming in by the dozens, but many reports are second-hand. He says his office cannot deal in rumors — it needs to know specifics about the gas station’s price, the name of the business and the address.Reports say service stations in Tipton, Maquoketa, the Quad Cities and elsewhere raised prices as high as four dollars a gallon.
