Airports across the United States were allowed to re-open at 10 o’clock Iowa time today. The F-A-A says flights will resume on a case-by-case basis. Glen Januska, director of the Sioux Gateway Airport, isn’t exactly sure when flights will resume, but he says there will be increased security. He says security will be similar to measures taken during the Gulf War. Januska doesn’t know how all the extra security is going to be handled.Sioux Gateway is also home to an Iowa Air National Guard base, which Januska says puts them under different circumstances than other airports. He says the military can take over the airport if needed during a time of war. The director of the Eastern Iowa Airport near Cedar Rapids says they’re ready to go and certified by the FAA.Director Larry Mullendore expects operations to get going slowly, and eventually pick back up.
