Iowans are reminded to beware of potential scams in the wake Tuesday’s national disaster.Bob Brammer, a spokesman for Iowa’s Attorney General says there were Internet scams attempting to profit from Tuesday’s disaster just hours after it all happened.

Brammer says thus far they don’t have any reports of such scams in Iowa, but he expects them as there were scams during the floods of ’93 and after the Oklahoma City disaster. Brammer says beware of unsolicited phone or e-mail appeals for donations.Brammer says scam artists will try to pull at your heartstrings, but you should avoid any problems by only donating to charities that you know and trust. If you get such an e-mail, Brammer says you should contact the A-G’s office.
